  • We hope you will choose to live a life where you not only survive, but thrive!  We didn't realize how many of our foods have been genetically modified, sprayed with pesticides (which were developed from nerve gas), or grown in nutrient depleted soil.  When we ingest this type of produce how can we expect to get the nutrients we need to thrive?  If that wasn't bad enough we continue to deprive our bodies of whole, fresh, energy giving food by eating fast food.  Now don't get us wrong, there are certainly times we have decided to eat at these seemingly convenient restaurants.  But the funny thing is we never leave feeling strong and full of energy.  When you understand what kind of food you are eating there it is easy to understand why fast food gives us more trouble than it is worth.  Yes, perhaps fast food takes little to no thought to order and put into your body and as the saying goes "time is money" but I would like to argue that by taking a little extra time to think about what foods you are using to fuel your body actually saves you money.  If we give our bodies the foods it needs to keep itself healthy then we prevent so many types of diseases.  If you don't already know the medicine used to treat those diseases are far from being inexpensive!  We believe God gave us bodies that were made to thrive not to barely get through the day.  However, we cannot expect our bodies to thrive unless we spend a little extra time taking care of the great gift we have been given.  Want to hear the good news?  God gave us a huge selection of foods to help take care of ourselves!  So if you don't like brussels sprouts don't fret, there is such a huge selection of nutrient dense foods we have been given!  So don't eat just to fill your stomach eat to fill your body with goodness and live your life thriving!
Okay, so now I'm sure you understand how passionate we are about eating great foods!  But we understand it can be a challenge to stop eating all the junk that is so accessible.  Thats why we have created a competition, but not only is this a competition against other people, it is a competition for your health!  There will still be an awesome prize for the winner, besides feeling better!  So here is how it works:

    Wolf-Ten Health Challenge

Starts November 1st ends November 23rd.
Everyone starts out with 0 points you can either gain or loose points by the simple choices you make everyday.
We will send helpful tips out at least once a week, recipes, exercise tips, issues that affect your food, etc...
You end up with the most points = you win an awesome prize to help you continue in your efforts to live a thriving life!

Interested?  GREAT!  Below is the chart with positive choices and the harmful choices

    POSITIVE (aka gain points)
    • Go shopping at your local farmers market this week
    • Exercise for at least 30 minutes (1 pt per day)
    • Buy fresh organic vegetables (if you can't afford to buy completely organic start out with just buying salad and thin skinned fruits and veggies organic)
    • Keep track of what you eat in a day and how many calories, fat and sodium you eat with those foods
    • Get between 8 and 10 hours of sleep per night!
    • Eat breakfast
    • For every serving of fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables you eat you get 1 point (a serving size is a medium sized fruit, 1 cup raw leafy green vegetables, 1/2 cup of any other cooked vegetable, or 1/2 cup cooked fruit)
    • Take a multi-vitamin daily
    • If you have a juicer make your own fresh juice
    • Try a new fruit or vegetable (if you don't know what to try we have some great suggestions)
    • For 2 points eat a superfood, these are super good for you, extra antioxidant, amazingly powerful foods which include: Goji Berries, Green Tea, Spinach, Broccoli, Kale, Acai, Royal Jelly (this is produced by bees not jelly you put on your toast), Walnuts, Garlic, Salmon, or Kiwi
    • Look up what foods are in season and buy these fresh (they always taste so much better!)
    • One point per movie you watch:  Food Inc. The Future of Food, Food Matters, Chow Down, and Super Size Me. These are all great movies and we may add more when we find them!

HARMFUL (aka take a point away)
    • Eating food from a fast food restaurant
    • Take one point away for every soda or coffee you drink (green tea is a great alternative if you still need caffeine)
    • 3 or more glasses of fruit juice (its high in calories and the fruit is so much better for you! if you juice the juice at home and drink it fresh then this rule doesn't apply)
    • Eating frozen pizzas not made from whole grain crust, have fewer than 4 grams of fiber per serving, and have ingredients you can't pronounce
    • Eating frozen meals such as Hungry Man (this is only an example it is not limited only to this brand), a good alternative is Kashi frozen entrees, or Amy's Brand frozen food, Amy's also makes a great burrito which Hannah loved to eat in college, and both brands also make good frozen pizzas

P.S. If anyone is interested we also have a program and prizes that kids could do, this could be a great school project also, super easy to incorporate into either science or english!  Just let us know and we will send it to you!

Hot Chocolate!

Here is the new food we tried this week:
I have always loved baking chocolate chip cookies with a little cayenne pepper, so when I found chocolate with pepper flakes already in it I was in heaven!!!!!!  It is a fool proof way to enjoy chocolate without eating too much.  I found this yummy little treat in downtown Fredericksburg, Texas.  They even had chocolates with wine inside!  This was completely my kind of place.
Gotta love the Mayan Calender design!

Waiting to Wait

Paul and I just found out our paperwork is in step 5 of 8 (or 9) steps to have me approved to go with Paul to Korea!!!!  So now we just have to wait to be put on the waiting list to have everything finalized, hopefully this will be done within a month so I can fly out with him.  Our plans had been to fly out before Christmas around the December 15th....but the army had other plans, which means the earliest we could fly to Korea is December 24th!  Who picked that date?????  So right now we are at Ft. Sill waiting to hear more.  As long as our dogs can go we will all be very happy!
